MANILA — Presidential daughter Veronica "Kitty" Duterte gave the public a glimpse into her personal life as she joined a friend in a vlog where she answered questions from online followers.

Kitty, 15, appeared as a guest in the latest YouTube entry of vlogger Kyra Valentin, who quizzed the President's daughter on a range of topics, from her roots as a Davaoeña to her skincare routine.

Explaining how she got her nickname, Kitty said it was actually not inspired by the juvenile cat, but rather by “kiti-kiti,” or the colloquial term for mosquito larvae. Her parents called her “Kiti,” she said, because of her being restless as a little girl.

Among the other topics she discussed were her preference of school. Her mother, Honeylet Avanceña, is open to the idea of her studying abroad for college, but her father, President Duterte, is against it as he always wants to see his youngest child, Kitty said.

The presidential daughter also mentioned her mother’s milk tea business, and did a re-enactment of a dramatic scene with Valentin.

Asked how she handles negativity, Kitty said: “Ang akin, focus on the things that are more important in your life, like the things you value. Ang mindset ko kasi… Nasanay na ako, to be honest.

“Iniisip ko, ano bang nagawa nila para sa akin para magbigay ako ng attention sa kanila? Wala. Better pa kung i-focus ko sa mga taong importante sa akin, may nagawa para sa akin.”
