<p>MANILA - Filipinos continue to reign supreme in terms of social media use globally.</p><p>A report by creative agency We Are Social and social media management platform Hootsuite showed Filipinos spend the most time on the internet and on social media sites.</p><p>The &quot;Digital 2019: Global Digital Overview&quot; showed Filipinos spend an average of 10 hours, 2 minutes on the internet via any device.</p><p>Brazil came in second place with internet usage averaging 9 hours and 29 minutes, while Thailand came in third at 9 hours, 11 minutes.</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/tvpatrol/01/28/20190131-stat4.png"/></figure></div><p>The worldwide average for hours spent on the internet is at 6 hours, 42 minutes, down a few minutes from 2018&#x27;s 6 hours and 49 minutes.</p><p>The report also showed Filipinos usually spend over 4 hours on social media daily, followed by Brazillians (3 hours, 34 minutes) and Colombians (3 hours, 31 minutes).</p><p>The worldwide average for social media use is at 2 hours, 16 minutes.</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/tvpatrol/01/28/20190131-stat3.png"/></figure></div><p>The report said that as of January 2019, there are now 4.39 billion internet users worldwide, an increase of 366 million (9 percent) compared to January 2018.</p><p>There are also 3.48 billion social media users in 2019, with 3.26 billion using social media on mobile devices.</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/tvpatrol/01/28/20190131-stat2.png"/></figure></div><p>Facebook continues to dominate the internet as the top social media platform with over 2.71 billion users, followed by YouTube with 1.9 billion users, and messaging services WhatsApp (1.5 billion) and Facebook Messenger with 1.3 billion users.</p><div class="embed-wrap"><figure data-feedback="fb:likes,fb:comments"><img src="https://sa.kapamilya.com/absnews/abscbnnews/media/2019/tvpatrol/01/28/20190131-stat1.png"/></figure></div><p>This is the fourth year in a row that the Philippines topped social media use worldwide.</p><ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/focus/02/01/18/philippines-is-worlds-top-social-media-user-study">Philippines is world&#x27;s top social media user: study</a></li></ul><p>Last year, the Philippines placed second in terms of internet use, with users spending an average of 9 hours, 29 minutes on the internet daily.</p><p>It was only a few minutes behind Thailand&#x27;s 9 hours, 38 minutes average.</p>
