COS made a memorable re-entrance onto the runway with its first-ever show in Rome, Italy with its Spring/Summer 2024 mainline and Atelier collections. The show was set within the historic Corsie Sistine, part of Europe's oldest 15th-century hospital, carefully preserved by local health organization ASL Roma 1. Against the backdrop of 13,000 square feet of frescoes, a contemporary walled structure constructed from recycled voile offered a modern counterpoint. Models, including iconic Italian supermodel Mariacarla Boscono, showcased 33 looks, featuring light and airy volumes and delicately layered transparent fabrics. These designs expertly blended soft, sculptural lines with precise tailoring, presenting billowing off-the-shoulder tops and wide-leg trousers that exuded confidence, transforming traditional styles with mesh fabrics and loose, unstructured silhouettes crafted from smooth silk.
Introducing its latest Atelier collection, COS maintained its reputation for fine fabrics and meticulous attention to detail. Statement pieces included hand-pleated shoulder pads, fishtail skirts, and flowing maxi-length garments, while tailoring and knitwear saw innovations like elongated hybrid sleeves and inward folding lapels. Bold red tones were in stunningly contrasted against a neutral palette of steel blue, black, white, and sand.
COS also highlighted its commitment to enduring style and sustainable practices. The collection showcased materials sourced with greater environmental consciousness, including paper yarns, recycled materials, and yarns certified by the Responsible Wool Standard. This emphasis on sustainability underscored the brand's timeless aesthetic, reinforcing its dedication to environmental responsibility alongside its pursuit of timeless elegance.
