From their heartfelt performances of classic OPM and ballad songs, P-pop boy band Yes My Love introduces a fresh new sound with their latest single, "Coffee Date."

During a press conference for their new song, member Josh reflected on how "Coffee Date" marked an important shift in their musical journey.

“We were also reassessing the type of music we want to put out there po and narealize naming an ito yung tipo ng kanta na gusto naming pakinggan,” Josh said.

Josh also told PUSH ABS-CBN that embracing a new musical direction felt like a relief for the group.

“Actually, it felt like a relief. Parang medyo ganoon siya. For the longest time as a group, parang we felt like we're always so eager to know what sets us apart, what will make us stand out,” he admitted.

“When in reality, we just wanna be relatable, like, sobrang relatable,” he added. “Doing 'Coffee Date,' the entire music video, the choreography, it just feels like a relief for us in a way, because this is, Yes My Love to its fullest. Ito talaga po kami as us.”

The band also shared the challenges of transitioning from ballads to a more upbeat, danceable track.

“Siguro yung challenge lang siguro from transitioning from ballads going to a track na mag-sing and dance, yung cardio namin, Yung hingal, Nahingal lang kami,” member Jeff said.

Member Niko added, “Kasi nasanay namin nakatayo, For the longest time, Tapos ngayon sasayaw ulit.”

With their growing interest in exploring different musical styles, the band shared their plans to create an extended play (EP) album featuring various genres.

“If we were to do an EP, expect a lot of 'Coffee Date' sounding songs po. We love to hear authentic instruments and at the same time, gusto naming busugin na iyong buong 143 (their fandom name) with different genre,” Josh expressed.

On Valentine’s Day, Yes My Love released "Coffee Date," written by members Brian, Josh, and Jeff. The song tells the story of a guy mustering the courage to ask someone special on a date despite being torpe.

According to Brian, the song was inspired by the Korean dramas he enjoys, and the music video reflects this theme. The MV stars social media personality Perlas alongside fellow member Niko.

The song was produced by singer-songwriter Yeng Constantino. Yes My Love also shared with PUSH ABS-CBN that they have an upcoming project with Yeng in the works.

Speaking of working with other artists, the band shared their desire to collaborate with R&B singer Jay-R.
