MANILA -- “Mahihimatay na ata ako.”

This was Maki’s candid opening remark when we visited him at his rehearsal for his upcoming solo concert this Friday and Saturday at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City.

The two night-show is already sold out and Maki did not need to worry about his fans showing up, but all he had to focus on is his setlist and the concert experience he has prepared.

“Masaya. My team has been preparing this for months. Sobra kaming hands-on for this concert kumbaga ibubuhos talaga namin dito,” he said.

During rehearsals, we saw a glimpse of the stage that is designed much like a movie or TV set. Big LED screens to transport the audience visually to a different time.

Maki also emphasized how important his guests are to him.

“It’s a full circle moment for me to stand and to be able to sing with the people that I admire so so much lalo na sa OPM. Most of my fans are GenZs, gusto kong maparinig sa kanila kung saan ako nanggaling, kung ano 'yung roots ko, paano nagkaroon ng ganitong song,” he said.

His guests include Johnoy Danao, Ebe Dancel, Cesca, Sitti, Angela Ken and Nameless Kids. “Itong concert ko talaga, gusto ko siyang maging all about music and OPM,” he said.

Maki also made sure that this concert will be a different experience compared to his past guestings and live performances.

“Sinabi ko po sa meeting na ang gusto ko po uuwi ang fans ko na ayaw na nila umuwi. Kumbaga, tapos na 'yung concert, nakaupo pa rin sila doon,” he said.

He added that he wants everyone to feel the natural high from his show. “Ako whenever I go to concerts talaga, may mga ganun po akong nararamdaman. Sobra po akong na-attach sa moment. Kumabaga, ayokong matapos.”

For those who won’t be able to watch it physically, fans can stream the show live via iWantTFC.

Maki will also kick off his regional shows in Cebu, Baguio and Cagayan de Oro.
