The hype train for the new Superman movie by director James Gunn continues its journey, this time introducing a character straight from Warren Ellis’s The Authority, the meta human Angela Spica a.k.a. The Engineer.

The Engineer, a founding member of The Authority, has a liquid body due to nanites in her bloodstream, which allows her to make different objects including rockets and deadly weaponry. Gunn earlier identified The Authority as one of the movies to be included in the DC Universe slate.

The new Superman trailer also shows an interview between Clark Kent/Superman (David Corenswet) and fellow journalist and love interest Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), the introductions of A.R.G.U.S. director Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo) and gossip columnist Cat Grant (Mikaela Hoover), and more shots of Mister Terrific (Eli Gathegi), Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult).

We also get a heartfelt conversation between Clark and his father, Jonathan Kent (Pruitt Taylor Vince), who reminds Superman: “Your choices, your actions, that’s what makes you who you are.”

Superman opens in Philippine theaters on July 9, 2025.
