“This heartwarming drama will make you laugh, cry, and everything in between,” he said.

Together, they also made Filipino hearts flutter by expressing their gratitude in Filipino: “See you on Netflix! Salamat!”

When Life Gives You Tangerines follows the story of bright-eyed Ae-sun, portrayed by IU, a book-loving girl in the 1960s whose poetry-filled dreams lead her to unexpected adventures. Along the way, she crosses paths with the diligent and steadfast Gwan-sik, played by Park Bo-gum, sparking an intriguing journey of unexpected connections.

Both IU and Bo-gum’s team-up is highly anticipated, as they have each starred in successful and iconic K-dramas individually.

IU first gained recognition for her portrayal of Kim Pil-sook in the 2011 K-drama musical series Dream High. She played the shy, overweight girl with perfect pitch, who later underwent a remarkable transformation.

She later gained even more recognition with a heart-wrenching performance as Go Ha-jin / Hae Soo in Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, a 21st-century girl who mysteriously travels back in time to the 10th century. In this role, she was paired with Lee Joon-gi.

But one of her most iconic roles to date is playing Jang Man-wol in the 2019 dark fantasy romantic series Hotel del Luna. In this hit series, she portrayed the fierce and enigmatic owner of a hotel that caters exclusively to ghosts, alongside Yeo Jin-goo, who played the manager and her love interest.

Meanwhile, Bo-gum rose to recognition with his role as Choi Taek in the coming-of-age family drama Reply 1988. He portrayed a genius player of baduk, a strategy board game, and was the quiet one among his neighborhood friends.

He also landed the lead role of Lee Yeong in the 2016 period romantic drama Love in the Moonlight, where he portrayed a smart, charming, and mischievous heir to the throne.

In 2020, he starred in Record of Youth alongside fellow K-drama heartthrob Byeon Woo-seok. In the series, he portrayed Sa Hye-jun, a model who dreams of becoming a top actor.
