Netflix releases teaser for Park Bo-gum, IU’s new K-Drama ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’

Netflix released the teaser for the upcoming series of Park Bo-gum and IU titled When Life Gives You Tangerines on Friday, February 7.

The series "follows the adventures of Ae-sun (IU), 'the remarkable rebel,' and Gwan-sik (Bo-gum), nicknamed 'unyielding iron,' through four vibrant seasons on Jeju Island," the streaming giant said.

The story takes place in the 1950s.

The minute-long teaser shows how childhood best friends Gwan-sik and Ae-sun grows up together on Jeju Island. When they grow older, Ae-sun dismisses the idea of marrying Gwan-sik.

We also see a glimpse of how Gwan-sik encourages Ae-sun to fulfill her dream of becoming a poet. "I think you'll be a famous poet," he told Ae-sun.

By the end of the teaser, we see an emotional Ae-sun as Gwan-sik suddenly leaves.

Fans online were quick to react to the teaser.

"Can't wait to see Park Bo-gum and IU in one frame ❤," one fan commented.

"I'm excited to watch," one fan wrote.

When Life Gives You Tangerines is directed by Kim Won-suk (Misaeng: Incomplete Life, My Mister) and written by Lim Sang-choon (When the Camellia Blooms, Fight for My Way).

The series is set to be released on March 7 on Netflix.


IU starred in several acting projects in the past including The Producers in 2015, Hotel del Luna in 2019, Broker in 2022, and Dream in 2023.

Aside from her acting endeavors, IU has also a thriving music career. She staged her latest world tour "H.E.R." in 2024 across various countries including the Philippines.

Bo-gum headlined numerous TV series in the past including Reply 1988 in 2015, Love in the Moonlight in 2016, Encounter in 2018, and Record of Youth in 2020.

He also recently starred in movie projects Seo Bok in 2021 and Wonderland in 2024. 

Bo-gum is also a musician, releasing the album Blue Bird in March 2020 in Japan.

In January 2023, Bo-gum signed an exclusive contract with his new agency, The Black Label, an associate company of YG Entertainment.
