On the first Sunday of the year, The Golden Globes brings together Hollywood's film and television stars like few other events.

A slew of celebrities dressed up to the nines mingled together at the Beverly Hilton ahead of the first major awards show of the season.

"It's a very weird thing from an anthropological perspective that we do," said Cate Blanchett, who acts and executive produces 'Disclaimer'.

"Every year is different but it feels like it's a very eclectic year and that's really exciting."

Tilda Swinton, nominated for lead actress for 'The Room Next Door', said "It's very corporate, which might be a good thing if seen through a certain lens and I mean, I don't know. I mean, believe it or not, it used to be more chaotic than this."

The red carpet was awash with celebrity interactions from Glenn Close and Elle Fanning to Harrison Ford and 'Dune' director Denis Villeneuve.

When asked if you ever get used to the experience, actor Diego Luna told Reuters, "No, you can't. You shouldn't. You shouldn't. It's not healthy, you know. It's good to be impressed, shocked."

Bond actor Daniel Craig described the event as "a glorious sh*t show."

He added "I mean, it's kind of wonderful, and stressful and everything all at the same time."
