MANILA -- Actor Kristoffer "Ian" de Leon expressed his gratitude to the fans of his mother National Artist Nora Aunor.

Ian, one of the five children of Aunor, addressed the fans of the showbiz legend after she was laid to her final resting place at Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig on Tuesday, April 22.

In his speech, Ian acknowledged that their mother became superstar because of the fans.

He also shared that he and his siblings are still together because of their mother. They also became closer to God because of Aunor.

Mmaraming-maraming salamat," Ian concluded as he tried hard not to cry.

Hours before the hero's burial, Aunor was honored at a state necrological service held at the Metropolitan Theater in Manila.

Aunor was remembered by fellow National Artist Ricky Lee, veteran filmmaker and actor Joel Lamangan and screen veteran and former ABS-CBN president and CEO Charo Santos.

Born Nora Cabaltera Villamayor, Aunor started her entertainment career in the 1960s as a singer and was known for her "golden voice."

She went on to do powerful portrayals in films such as "Himala" in 1982, "Bulaklak sa City Jail" in 1984, and "The Flor Contemplacion Story" in 1995.

Aunor received recognition and awards for her acting prowess, including Best Actress honors at Gawad Urian and FAMAS for her performance in "Tatlong Taong Walang Diyos."
