Hollywood star Daisy Ridley has arrived in the Philippines to begin work on her upcoming film, The Last Resort, which will be shot in the country.

In an interview with MJ Marfori of One PH, the Star Wars actress expressed her excitement about being part of a project that highlights the Philippines.

"It's really wonderful to be on a project that's actually filming here, and set here, and bringing eyes to the Philippines," she said.

When asked what drew her to the film, Daisy relayed: "The script. I love the script. I love the director and the idea of doing something that's so bedded in the culture of here, of family, and love, yeah so all of that."

The Last Resort marks Daisy’s first foray into romantic comedy, a genre she is thrilled to explore. "All of it is very exciting," she remarked.

As for how she's preparing for the role, the actress, she shared: "We will see what the preparations about to be. I actually know Alden (Ehrenreich, her co-star) a little bit who I'm working with which is great."

On her first impression of the Philippines upon landing in the country, she replied: "Warm, very beautiful and I am excited to see the islands later today. "

According to Deadline, The Last Resort follows Brooke (Daisy Ridley), an heiress determined to prove herself by scouting a resort site in the Philippines. She meets Ben (Alden Ehrenreich), a charming expat pilot who helps her rediscover freedom and love as she faces a choice between duty and desire.

Donald Petrie, the director behind Miss Congeniality and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, will be directing the movie. Karen McCullah, who wrote 10 Things I Hate About You and Legally Blonde, wrote the script. 

Manuel V. Pangilinan takes on the role of executive producer for the film, with production led by Ernesto "Bong" Sta. Maria Jr. and Raja Collins. Simon Heo, Akshay Mehta, and Rick Dugdale also join the team as co-producers.
