MANILA -- The Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors again acknowledged the industry stakeholders that shaped and left an indelible mark in Philippine cinema at the 7th EDDYs (Editors Edition Choice), in Pasay City, Sunday evening.

Piolo Pascual was named “Best Actor” for his portrayal of three characters in the Metro Manila Film Fest entry “Mallari.”

“Nanginginig pa rin ako. I was not expecting to win, so forgive me for shaking. I share this award to all the nominees— Romnick Sarmenta, you are my best actor,” Pascual said.

“I hold this close to my heart because it comes from friends in the industry.  Thank you so much as we celebrate Philippine Cinema, I am reminded of the task we have at hand to not just celebrate but carry on. We are living a good trail to be inspired with what we do… Para sa pelikulang Pilipino,” he added.

The “Best Actress” title was shared by Julia Montes and Charlie Dizon. Montes was lauded for her role in  “Five Breakups and a Romance” while Dizon was recognized for her acting in the flick “Third World Romance.”

“Nominado pa lang ang sarap na sa pakiramdam, itong parangal ngayon sobrang nakaka-inspire mas lalo pag butihan,” Montes said in her speech.

Enchong Dee bagged the award for “Best Supporting Actor” for his depiction of Padre Zamora in the multi-awarded historical film “GomBurZa,” while the “Best Supporting Actress” award went to Gladys Reyes.

“Sabi ko, bakit ganoon, feeling ko hindi enough ginawa ko na performance to be noticed and recognized but now, I want to say thank you. You reminded me it is not the length but rather how much impact and how much you make your audience feel. I really really appreciate this award. I will never forget this night,” Dee said in his speech.

“I share this award to all of the people behind GomBurza and sa lahat ng taong nag antay ng hustisya. Ang kwento nito ay representation ng mga tao na nagaantay ng hustisya na sana makamit nila. Maraming maraming salamat. This night will never be forgotten,” he added.

“Sa lahat ng beteranong kagaya ko, binabahagi ko sa kanila ang karangalang ito. Salamat sa mga kapta beterano ko, noon at ngayon. Siyempre wala yung ngayon Kung wala yung noon. San a wag ninny kami pabayaan, wag niyo kami kalimutan. Salamat po at magandang gabi,” Darren said as she received the award.

Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes, Kathryn Bernardo, Alden Richards, and Pascual were recognized as “Box Office Hero” awardees.

The awards night was hosted by Janine Gutierrez, Gabbi Garcia, and Jake Ejercito.
