MANILA -- Director Darryl Yap has confirmed that the film 'Maid in Malacañang' will be turned into a 16-episode series, with shooting set to begin in September.

Yap, along with the cast of "Maid in Malacañang," including Cristine Reyes, Cesar Montano, Ruffa Gutierrez, Diego Loyzaga and Ella Cruz were among the guests at former First Lady Imelda Marcos’ 95th birthday party, which was hosted by daughter, Senator Imee Marcos, at their San Juan City residence.

“This is like a reunion… I just found out. I am surprised. I am excited,” Loyzaga said.

The film revolves around the Marcos family's last 72 hours in Malacañang Palace in February 1986, before they were flown out from Manila to Hawaii amid the People Power revolution.

Montano starred as the late President Ferdinand Marcos, Sr.; Gutierrez as the former First Lady; Reyes as Imee Marcos; Loyzaga as Bongbong Marcos; and Cruz as Irene Araneta.

Reyes, meanwhile, teased she is set to star in another film.

“On July 4, we will have a story conference. It is a fictional film,” she said.

Other celebrities present were Dulce, Robert Seña, among others. Senator Cynthia Villar husband Manny Villar as well as daughter Rep. Camille Villar were also in attendance.

Reverend Father Boyd Sulpico OP celebrated the mass held before the short program conducted to honor the Marcos matriarch.
