MANILA -- Actress-singer Carla Guevara-Laforteza is preparing for her upcoming 30th anniversary concert as part of the "Triple Threat" concert series of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

"When I turned 45, I did a solo concert at 12 Monkeys where I performed all the solos I've ever done in my career. So, I said, I've done that already. I don't want to do another musical. I want something different. I want to sing songs that I want to sing, the ones I bopped my head to. I wanted to sing songs that have meaning to me," Laforteza said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Despite her experience, she admitted that she still feels nervous when performing, especially when the audience is close.

“When I see the audience so close, I get nervous. That's why I like being on stage. I like being blinded by the lights and that I don’t see anybody because then I can really bring out the character,” she said.

Reflecting on her 30 years in the industry, she said, "Ang dami! I worked with various directors, theater companies, actors and every production that I do, I always learn something whether it’s how I say a particular line, how to dress, how to act and you don't stop learning.”

Laforteza is also a proud mother to daughter Sophia, who is making a name for herself in the industry. Sophia is part of the global pop group Katseye, which recently released their debut single titled "Debut."

"It's a global girl group managed by Hybe x Geffen. They had a competition during the pandemic with 120,000 auditionees worldwide, and my daughter was number 1. It was a competition with 50% voting and 50% judges," she said.

Laforteza's concert is the first in this year's Triple Threat concert series. She will perform on July 25 under the direction of Paolo Valenciano at the Tanghalang Ignacio Jimenez (CCP Black Box Theater).

Singer-actress Sheila Valderrama-Martinez is scheduled for October 17, and to close the Triple Threat concert series, Tanya Manalang-Atadero will perform on December 12.
