Photo courtesy of Disney+Jun Ji-hyun, left, and Gang Dong-won are set to star in Disney+'s spy thriller series 'Tempest.' Photo courtesy of Disney+Korean superstars Jun Ji-hyun and Gang Dong-won are teaming up for the spy thriller series "Tempest," which will stream on Disney+, the streaming service said Wednesday.

Slated to premiere in 2025, "Tempest" follows a highly accomplished diplomat and international special agent as they uncover the truth behind an attack that threatens the Korean peninsula. 

Ji-hyun, known for her lead roles in the romance series "My Love from the Star" and "Legend of the Blue Sea," plays Seo Mun-ju, a career diplomat who uses her sharp intellect to unconver the source of a lethal attack.

Meanwhile, Dong-won, whose films include the romance drama "Temptation of Wolves" and zombie horror "Peninsula," takes on the role of the enigmatic agent San-ho.

"Tempest" was created by director Kim Hee-won and Chung Seo-kyung, who previously worked together in the series "Little Women."

Hee-won's past projects include the series "Vincenzo" and "Queen of Tears" while Seo-kyung is known for her works with acclaimed director Park Chan-wook, such as "The Handmaiden" and "Decision to Leave."
