MANILA -- P-pop girl group G22 is hopeful that their performance on the global stage will further contribute to the rise of the OPM genre.

AJ, Jaz, and Alfea performed at “Show It All,” a Chinese reality show produced by EXO member and solo artist Lay Zhang, in China.

“It is a big honor. We really feel the rise and wave of P-pop now and we feel happy to represent it,” AJ said.

“We are so happy to be part of P-pop,” Jaz added.

The trio flaunted their dynamic vocals and electrifying dance skills in their performance of “Babalik” and their debut song “Bang.”

While often hailed as the "female alphas" of the industry, G22 peeled back their layers as they serenaded the crowd with the former track — recognizing the power in authenticity and the strength in vulnerability.

“Empowerment is also about acceptance that's why we have to accept the past and move forward to being stronger version,” Jaz said.

G22 more recently revealed another layer of their emotional depth in their latest single “One Sided Love,” which features yet another layer of their artistic expression.

“We release hard hitting very ‘pasugod’ but in this song, before we were strong we were in pain, we were hurt, replaced. This song it takes back why we became Alphas, it also tells a story. Many femmes can relate and experience a one sided love. And as G22 we are known for our experimental side,” AJ explained.

“Because of the lyrics at the beginning, it shows someone waiting for something or someone they will do whatever they can,” Alfea added.

Apart from the upcoming music video of their latest track, G22 teased they will be recording more music this year.

If given the opportunity, the girls confessed they hope they will be able to collaborate with an SB19 member or their mentors in the industry such as KZ Tandingan, Yeng Constantino, and Dionela.

“They are really like big sisters. They keep us grounded. They really help us and they are so kind,” AJ said.

“They are very good example sa amin. Even through our ups and downs they supported us. They never gave up on us,” Alfea chimed in.
