Song Joong-ki plays a struggling North Korean defector in the Netflix film "My Name is Loh Kiwan," which arrives on the platform on March 1.

The streamer released Thursday a teaser for the upcoming film, which revolves around the titular character who seeks refuge in Belgium after escaping North Korea.

The teaser begins with Kiwan narrating that he was born in a camp in the dictator-run country's Chagang province while clips of his escape with his mother are shown.

As he struggles living in a foreign land, his identity as a North Korean is met with doubt. "As of now, we cannot confirm that you are from North Korea," a woman's voice tells Kiwan.

Kiwan then says in a voiceover: "I have managed to come this far by promising myself that I would endure and overcome whatever hell I experienced in this land."

Song is known for his roles in dramas such as "Descendants of the Sun," "Vincenzo" and "Reborn Rich."

Last year, the 38-year-old actor made headlines after announcing his marriage to British actress Katy Louise Saunders. The couple welcomed their first child in June.
