MANILA -- "Hello, Love, Again," the movie starring Kapamilya actress Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards, earned over P85 million on its first day.

This is the highest opening gross for a local movie.

The film was shown in 656 local cinemas, the highest number for a local film.

Overall, the movie will be shown in 1,000 cinemas worldwide.

Directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, "Hello, Love, Again" is the sequel to 2019 blockbuster movie "Hello, Love, Goodbye".

Bernardo and Richards said they were excited for people to watch their film.

"We are very happy na very fulfilled at saka hindi namin in-expect na magiging ganoon ang turnout ng buong pelikula. Kaya excited na po kami na mapanood niyong lahat 'yon," Richards said Wednesday.

"So maraming salamat sa lahat ng nanood ng midnight screenings, sa lahat ng nagpa-block screening at sa lahat ng mga manonood pa lang in the coming days — thank you so much for all the support. Sobrang saya namin kagabi. Thank you," Bernardo added.

Last Tuesday, Bernardo, Richards and Garcia-Sampana with the cast members of "Hello, Love, Again" had a successful world premiere, which was attended by fellow celebrities as well as ABS-CBN and GMA-7 executives.

After the world premiere, fans flocked to the midnight screening of "Hello, Love, Again."
