Seunghan of rising K-pop boy band RIIZE is set to resume promotional activities following a hiatus that lasted for almost a year, his agency said Friday.

SM Entertainment announced Seunghan’s return through a statement posted on the group’s X account.

“Seunghan acknowledges that his past actions were wrong, and he has currently halted activities for nearly a year while deeply reflecting [on his actions] and feeling apologetic to the other members and his fans,” SM said in the statement, as translated into English by K-pop news portal Soompi.

“After numerous discussions with the staff and members about the direction of the group’s future activities, it has been decided that Seunghan will be returning to the group,” the company said.

The 21-year-old artist has been on a break since November 2023 after photos and videos of him smoking and kissing an unidentified woman — taken before he even debuted as an idol — were leaked on social media.

SM said Seunghan would begin to gradually participate in the group’s activities starting November.

The agency also apologized for the lack of announcements regarding Seunghan during his hiatus, which led to fans feeling “worried and concerned.”

“As we continued to debate the matter from various angles, [our decision took some time], and we sincerely apologize for the fact that we are only now telling you our decision about the direction of RIIZE’s future activities,” SM said

Debuting in September 2023, RIIZE — also composed of Shotaro, Eunseok, Sungchan, Wonbin, Sohee and Anton — has gained popularity through songs such as “Get A Guitar,” “Love 119” and “Boom Boom Bass.”

The group, minus Seunghan, went to the Philippines in July for their “RIIZING DAY” fan concert tour.
