Actress Lilia Cuntapay laid to rest

MANILA – The remains of actress Lilia Cuntapay were finally laid to rest on Tuesday morning.

Cuntapay was brought to her final resting place at a cemetery in Pinili, Ilocos Norte.

According to his son Gilmore, it was Cuntapay's request to be laid to rest in her hometown in Gonzaga, Cagayan but he decided on Pinili so he could regularly visit his mother's grave.

Gilmore and Cuntapay were separated for over 20 years after the actress left him when he will still a baby.

Cuntapay, who was dubbed the "Queen of Philippine Horror Movies," died last August 20. Prior to her death, she had an illness which involved her spinal cord that eventually caused her hospitalization in July.

Cuntapay rose to fame for her role in the 1991 horror movie "Shake, Rattle and Roll." Her other TV and movie projects include "Okatokat" and "Wansapanataym."

She was named Best Actress for her performance in the mockumentary "Six Degrees of Separation From Lilia Cuntapay" which was an entry to the 2011 Cinema One Originals Digital Film Festival.
