MANILA — In the wake of the forced eviction of a “Pinoy Big Brother” housemate over his inappropriate behavior, including making a joke about rape, a confrontation from a past season tackling sexuality has gone viral, prompting a debate online.

As the exit of Banjo Dangalan aired on Tuesday night, a clip of an argument between former housemates Dawn Chang and Tommy Esguerra resurfaced on Twitter, with netizens pointing out the common issue involved.

Dangalan’s forced eviction came after a series of sexually charged actions that made his fellow housemates uncomfortable, including smelling their hair, and more overtly, joking he would take advantage of another housemate in his sleep.

Chang’s confrontation with Esguerra, meanwhile, involved women’s sexuality. Esguerra argued that Chang exposing her legs with her choice of outfits leads to temptation, and men, particularly fellow housemate Zeus Collins, unable to think rationally.

In a comeback that’s notably gained traction with the viral clip, Chang said: “You should take responsibility [for] your actions. If you think I’m sexy, thank you very much. If you feel tempted because of what I wear, that’s your problem and not mine. I can wear whatever I want to wear.”

Esguerra had called out Chang over her affectionate behavior with Collins, stressing that they, at the time, had respective partners in the “outside world.” Chang responded by emphasizing she and Collins have an understanding of their limits.

A separate clip that’s also gone viral on Twitter, meanwhile, shows Chang answering housemate James Linao on the issue of being “touchy.”

“Ang mapapaliwanag ko lang doon, si Zeus gusto ko, ikaw hindi. Kaya siguro may permission somehow sa akin na okay lang. Ikaw, hindi,” she said.

A third viral clip, also featuring Chang, was more recent. It was drawn from the June 4 webcast of the online series “PBB Bring8on,” where Dangalan’s behavior and forced eviction was discussed.

“For me, that’s sexual harrassment,” she said. “If there is no consent, it’s not right. Kasi, kumbaga, ang pagkain, just because nasa harapan mo, pero hindi sa ‘yo, hindi ibig sabihin puwede mo kainin,” she said.

“Hindi rin po sa kasuotan ‘yun. No, it’s all here,” Chang added, pointing to her head. “It’s how you control, it’s how you see it, it’s how you think it is.”
