MANILA - Actress Jodi Sta. Maria, who plays Amor in the hit primetime series "Pangako Sa 'Yo," was the guest on Tuesday's episode of "Tonight with Boy Abunda."

The 33-year-old Sta. Maria was asked about her current relationship with her ex-husband Pampi Lacson -- the father of her son Thirdy.

"Maayos po ang aming relasyon, masasabi ko na kahit papaano we're better than before," she shared.

The actress continued: "And sa palagay ko pareho na talaga kaming nag-mature bilang mga tao and naniniwala ako na iyong pagiging maayos ng aming relasyon bilang magkaibigan eh grace lang po talaga ni Lord."

"It's not something na pinilit namin, si Lord lang po talaga ang nag-restore nung aming relationship. Nakakatuwa lang na God's make everything beautiful in his own time," she added.

In 2007, rumors about her separation with Lacson surfaced after several people noticed that Sta. Maria was no longer wearing her wedding ring.

The rumors resurfaced in 2010 when, during her acceptance speech after winning the best supporting actress prize at Cinema One Originals Film Festival, she did not thank her husband.

It was only in March 2011 when Lacson's father, former senator Panfilo Lacson, confirmed that the two were already separated.

Sta. Maria was also asked on how she explained their situation to their son. "Well, when Pampi ang I separated, na-explain na po namin iyon kay Thirdy."

"But we know na hindi naging madali iyon para sa kanya pero we explained to him that it's not his fault. And that our love for him will never change."

Sta. Maria is currently in a relationship with Jolo Revilla, a son of detained Sen. Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr. She did not reveal her Valentine's Day plans.

Meanwhile, Sta. Maria also gave the biggest lesson she learned from portraying Amor, which has become a hit on primetime TV.

"Pagpapatawad. ...Mahirap mabuhay ng punong-puno ka ng galit sa puso mo. Because it does something to you, it's very destructive. The only way that you can free yourself from that is to release the person that hurt you, or offended you."

"Pangako Sa 'Yo," which stars Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo, is set to air its finale on Friday.
