MANILA - Kakai Bautista and Ahron Villena, whose once-rumored "romance" and tumultuous friendship made headlines in recent years, are sharing the big screen for the first time.

They confirmed the news in an interview in the episode of DJ Jhai Ho's "Hotspot" uploaded Tuesday on YouTube.

"'Aso't Pusa' ang title," Villena quipped, in jest, apparently referring to his relationship with Bautista which had been beset by intrigues.

The two reconciled in November 2017 after a publicized feud over rumors linking them romantically. Prior to the falling out, they had been vocal of their closeness on social media, which triggered speculation at the time.

Bautista eventually admitted she fell in love with Villena, but that her feelings were not reciprocated. Nonetheless, they managed to become friends again.

"Sa mga fans ng 'Ahkai,' ang mga nakiuglo sa amin sa away-bati namin, ito na ang hinihintay niyo," Bautista said. "Finally, magkakaroon na kami ng isang project together, at ito ay isang full-length movie."

Asked if moviegoers can look forward to a kissing scene, Villena answered, in jest, "Ipagpapaalam ko pa sa magulang ni Kakai! Medyo strict daw kasi 'yung parents niya. Tingnan natin kung pagbibigyan ang mga request ko sa pelikula."

No further details about the upcoming movie were revealed, but the pair said they would start shooting soon for a target summer release.
