MANILA (2nd UPDATE) -- The LRT-2 said its operations are back to normal hours after a power supply problem caused it to shorten trips.

In an advisory posted on its official Facebook page at 12:35 p.m., the Light Rail Transit Authority said trains can again travel along the LRT-2 line's full length from the Antipolo station to Recto station and back.

Earlier, at 7:26 a.m., the LRTA said trains could only operate between Antipolo and V. Mapa and vice versa.

LRTA administrator Atty. Hernando Cabrera told ABS-CBN News it encountered power tripping in its rectifier number 1 in Recto Station that affects the operation from V. Mapa Station to Recto Station.

"Kaninang mga 7:12 (AM) may nag-tripped yung tinatawag natin na rectifier number 1 - parang transformer yan. Ito yung nag-se-serve from Recto to Pureza. Supposedly kapag nag-tripped yung RSS number 1, sasaluhin ng RSS number 2, yun ang redundant function niya- so hindi gumana, yung pagsalo," Cabrera explained.

Around 12:32 p.m., on Wednesday, LRTA was able to resume its normal operation from Antipolo to Recto Stations and vice versa.

According to Cabrera, he is still awaiting a full report from the personnel who conducted the investigation to find out what was really the problem.

Cabrera admits this affected the daily revenue of its operation but he has yet to give figures as to how much income loss it incurred.

"Humihingi po kami ng paumanhin sa nangyari. Hindi po namin inaasahan -- unexpected ho yung nangyari… Biglang pumitik yung breaker natin, at we need do some intervention action. Pagpapatuloy po namin yung isinasagawang imbestigasyon para maiwasan na mangayari ulit ito in the future," Cabrera said.

Affected passengers were forced to look for alternative modes of transportation to reach their destinations.
