Red alert raised in Luzon Grid anew

The following alrts were raised over the grid: 

Red Alert

1:00PM-12:00AM (June 2)

Yellow Alert

11:00AM-1:00PM

Available Capacity - 12,706MW

Peak Demand - 11,955MW

This was due to the outage of Ilijan Block A & B (1,200MW).

Authorities advised that NGCP may implement manual load dropping in areas such as: 

ISECO (parts of Ilocos Sur)

NUVELCO (parts of Nueva Vizcaya)

IFELCO (parts of Ifugao)

PANELCO III (parts of Pangasinan)

BATELEC I (parts of Batangas)

SORECO I and SORECO II (parts of Sorsogon)

MERALCO (parts of Meralco franchise area)

These schedules may be canceled if system conditions improve, the NGCP said.

A red alert status is issued when the power supply is insufficient to meet consumer demand and the transmission grid’s regulating requirement.

Meralco also advised that its users may experience power outages.

"Maaaring tumagal ng hanggang 2 oras ang rotational brownout sa mga apektadong lugar. Nakiusap na rin ang Meralco sa mga commercial at industrial establishments na kasali sa Interruptible Load Program na mag-deload muna o bumitaw sa grid upang makabawas sa demand," they said. 

(Rotational brownouts may last up to 2 hours in the affected areas. Meralco has also requested commercial and industrial establishmennts in the Interruptible Load Program to deload to ease the demand.)
