This month, several activities were held to honor and commemorate the life and leadership of the late Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse Robredo.

His family and friends in Naga City organized a Tsinelas walk and a Poster and Essay writing competition to remember the simplicity of lifestyle that Robredo lived out when he was mayor of the city.

In Manila, the Jesse M. Robredo Foundation organized an exhibit that was held at the Gateway Mall in Cubao. Aside from this, a launching of a book that contains his writings and speeches was held at Fully Booked, Bonifacio High Street, Taguig.

All of these activities were held to inspire more Filipinos to aspire to have more Tsinelas Leaders like Robredo in our country.
The Kaya Natin! (KN) Movement for Good Governance and Ethical Leadership which was co-founded by Robredo in 2008 also joined in the commemoration activities by formally inducting 8 new KN Champions into its fold.
All of these activities were held to inspire more Filipinos to aspire to have more Tsinelas Leaders like Robredo in our country.

KN Champions are former or current elected government officials who consistently live out effective, ethical and empowering leadership. They belong to different political parties but are bound together with their common vision of a Philippines that is run by leaders who practice good governance and leadership with integrity.

KN serves as a leadership sanctuary and support group for these types of leaders who go against those who perpetuate graft and corruption and other forms of illegalities in our government.

The new set of KN Champions who will join the likes of Vice President Leni Robredo, Senator Bam Aquino, Senator Kiko Pangilinan and former Pampanga Gov. Among Ed Panlilio to mention a few are as follows (in no particular order):

The challenge for these new KN Champions is to be able to continue the legacy of Robredo who was able to effectively deliver basic services in his city while at the same time also being able to maintain his being an ethical and empowering leader.
