They explain that this procedure works harder than your nighttime skincare routine as it penetrates the skin in a way topical skincare just can’t, and its goal is to give you long-term skin improvement. “Thanks to glycerol with cross-linked hyaluronic acid, the treatment delivers the product directly into the skin for deep hydration, beyond the reach of any topical skincare. The Procedure

To get you started, the staff will cleanse your face to remove any makeup or impurities so you’ll have a clean base. Then, as with any procedure involving needles, numbing cream is next. After about 30 minutes, they’ll remove the cream and prep you for the procedure.

The in-house doctor will tell you exactly what they’re going to do–what it’s for, what sensation you might feel on your face when the treatment starts, and what area you want the skin booster to be injected in. With this procedure being as targeted as it is, you have the luxury of choosing where you want to have more hydration. I asked for them to hit two main areas: my cheeks, (because my skin had some texture there and was looking a little dull) and my under eyes (sleep was not my friend that week so I definitely needed some help with my bags).

After telling the doctor my problem areas, we proceeded to the injections. It was a very quick procedure, 20 minutes tops. My face did appear red and you could see where the injection sites were, so pro tip: you might want to bring a face mask just in case! They do advice that you maintain the results by getting a few sessions so keep in mind that it’s not a one-and-done deal.

Final Thoughts

There are only a handful of procedures that you can really see actual improvement to your skin and this is one of them. After only one session, I definitely saw that freshness and glow that the treatment promised so much so that I could get away with just wearing a tinted sunscreen on days that I didn’t have a lot of time to get ready. It visibly improved the appearance of my pores and under eyes.

That being said, for every pro it has, I’ll admit that there is a corresponding con. For starters, it’s not for the weak of heart. I’ve tried a lot of procedures as a writer in pursuit of the latest and greatest in beauty and wellness, so I am no stranger to beauty-induced pain, but this one I felt the pain. Even with the numbing cream, you will feel the pinch when that needle and medicine reach your face. I’ve been told that the component inside is actually what causes the stinging pain. Good thing is it’s momentary and the Aivee staff takes extra care of their clients during the procedure. So if you have a low tolerance for pain, then you might want to skip this.

Second, there is downtime. The doctor did advise me that it would be a week’s worth of downtime where I would experience puffiness on the face. I had hoped it was only them trying to manage my expectation but it really was accurate. My face looked a little bloated than usual that first week so if you have something big coming up, plan accordingly! But the second week came and that’s where I really saw the results. My face went back to its original state–but better.
