He might be the unbeatable and strongest Agila but Cardo (Coco Martin) also needs teammates to bolster his skills in facing big enemies. He recently found one in Ramona (Charo Santos), the leader of an armed group who sheltered him as a teenager. As they officially launch their explosive alliance, let us look back at the other remarkable team-ups in the teleserye that's also celebrating its 7th anniversary.

The Black Ops muse

Ahead of her much-anticipated role in Mars Ravelo’s Darna: The TV Series, Jane De Leon first trained in doing action-packed scenes and engrossing stunts with no less than Coco Martin. She entered the show as Lia Mante, an enemy, a Black Ops member bent on busting Cardo and the Agilas.
But circumstances forced them to unite for a single mission to fight for the oppressed. Together, they avenged the death of Lia’s sister, Audrey (Aya Fernandez), and toppled down different groups of villains.

Jane’s ‘collab’ with Coco was marked by stunning, highly-choreographed stunts, as if teasing fans of what to expect when she finally takes flight as Planet Marte’s warrior woman. Among our favorites is when she operated a crane while Cardo hung by its hook and fired at the goons, and when she helped Cardo finish the bad guys while wearing a white dress.

The Assassin

Introduced as Cardo’s last love, Julia Montes as Mara was a refreshing addition to FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano during its 8th season. She’s another case of an enemy turning into an ally. Mara despised Cardo, thinking he brings nothing but trouble. But when her foster father Armando (John Estrada) decided to harbor the Agilas, Mara saw Cardo’s pure intentions for the country.

They saved many innocent lives as well. Joining forces, they rescued the farmers’ daughters from Don Ignacio (Tommy Abuel)’s henchmen. Proving they’re real partners, Cardo and Mara have both saved each other’s lives in different circumstances.

Apart from the enthralling action scenes, Mara and Cardo’s tandem was a treat to watch because of their strong chemistry. In the past episodes, Mara was beaten up and exiled by Armando’s men, but viewers are hoping she’s still alive and will resurrect soon to continue her romance with Cardo.

The “Lion”

By the third season, Coco’s character was immersed in the world of rebel group Pulang Araw, who discovered his body after the SAF’s encounter with the same group. To protect his mission, Cardo aka Agila went undercover as Fernan. As he got to know the group led by Romulo aka Leon or Pinuno, he realized they also share the same visions, albeit different in principles and way of fighting. Later on, Agila and Leon merged to form the vigilante group Vendetta.

Romulo is arguably the best ally that Cardo had in terms of mental and physical strength. Cardo’s life at the time was extremely action-packed, with enemies chasing after him left and right, but plenty of help came from Romulo. Together, as Vendetta, they managed to erase the biggest villains including the most powerful and corrupt officials in the country. Romulo was also a father figure to Cardo; he modeled selflessness by sacrificing his life to save his beloved wife Diana (Angel Aquino).

The President

Cardo has become friends and allies with the most powerful man in the country, President Oscar Hidalgo (Rowell Santiago). After the Vendetta saved him from an ambush attack courtesy of then-Vice President Lucas Cabrera (Edu Manzano), President Oscar decided it was best to stay with Cardo’s group first until he’s ready to show up to the public, who assumed he died in the said ambush.

They even each other out. Where Cardo has the strength and gun-fighting skills, President Oscar has the wisdom and decision-making. Their partnership became official when President Oscar assigned Cardo and the Vendetta to form a special unit called Presidential Task Force aka Task Force Agila.

Lily (Lorna Tolentino)’s wickedness ruined President Oscar and Cardo’s friendship though. Now we’re looking forward to their reunion.

Nurse Andy and the Flower Power Girls

Who says only those who are trained in fighting and shooting can become Cardo’s allies? As long as you have the agility and patriotism, you can be on Cardo’s team. Case in point: Andy (Jessy Mendiola), the nurse who helped Vendetta in some of their missions. Andy was joined by her mom and the latter’s sexy talents in a club aka the Flower Power Girls played by former sexy actresses Katya Santos, Maui Taylor, Gwen Garci, Jaycee Parker, and Zara Lopez.

Together, they managed to save sect leader Brother Lorenzo (Rey PJ Abellana) from Lucas Cabrera and Renato Hipolito (John Arcilla). Apart from protecting the Vendetta from the enemies hunting them, Andy and the Flower Power Girls’ mission was to assure an honest and violence-free election, which was the main story arc during that season.

The patriotic leader

Charo Santos’s star power added more weight to the already huge impact of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano as Ramona, the leader of a group seeking justice, freedom, and equality. Apart from the heart-pumping scenes, the teleserye has had this hallmark of creating the most impressive plot twists and storylines from what is served in front of them.

In this case, they managed to inject a meaty backstory into Ramona’s character. Flashbacks showed that Ramona saved and nurtured Cardo from teenage to adulthood, thus a deep connection that will make their alliance tremendously powerful. In the recent episode, they joined forces to lead Ramona’s group in fighting the Black Ops, who tried to infiltrate the camp in search of Cardo. The scenes have been explosive but it is just the beginning of Cardo and Ramona’s thunderous partnership.
