"Before po searching ako pero dun pa rin ako bumase kung sino 'yung ipro-provide nung nasa itaas, 'yung sa right timing po talaga," the actor remarked.

The comedian was also asked by Karen if he ever courted his Walang KaParis co-star Alessandra de Rossi. He shared that he never did, explaining that, "Mas gusto ko na magkaibigan kami. Mas masarap siya bilang kaibigan kasya syota."

In the same interview, Empoy also opened up about his humble beginnings. The actor shared that he became the breadwinner of his family when his parents got separated. The actor relayed that he juggled jobs growing up.

"Pumasok ako sa pagiging lightman, nagla-lightman ako sa mga kasal at debut. Bago ako nag-fast food, nanahi ako ng mga book binder para sa mga wedding naman and birthdays," he relayed.

When asked how he feels that from his humble beginnings he is now a comedy star, he responded, "Siyempre po hindi po ako makapaniwala pa rin. 'Yung mga nakaraang taon or buwan nung nagnilay-nilay ako, nagmumi-muni ba. Sabi ko ito pala 'yung mga pinaghirapan ko, something ganyan, pagka-naiisip ko, kailangan ko siyang alagaan at pahalagahan," he said.

The actor further catapulted to fame when he starred in the 2017 hit movie Kita Kita alongside Alessandra de Rossi.

Empoy was reunited with Alessandra in another film this year in Prime Video's Walang KaParis.
