Rihanna became the first pregnant artist to perform at the halftime show.

The singer gave birth to her first child in May 2022.

In an interview with Apple Music prior to her performance, the singer revealed that motherhood inspired her to perform at the Superb Bowl.

"When you become a mom there's something that just happens wherein you feel like you can take on the world, you can do anything. And the Superbowl is one of the biggest stages in the world. As scary as that was because I haven't been on stage in seven years, there's something exhilarating about the challenge of it all," she said.

"And it's important for me to do it this year. It's important for representation. It's important for my son to see that," the singer added.

Rihanna also revealed that she had been very hands-on when it comes to the preparations for the Super Bowl.

"There are a lot of people who are part of this show and a huge part of the reason why it's gonna be as incredible as it is and I couldn't have done it without them. But you know what, at the end of the day if it flops or if it flies my name has to stand by that," she pointed out.

"So I really get involved with every aspect of anything that I do whether it's the Superbowl, whether it's a makeup product, whether it's Savage lingerie. Whatever I do, I'm that annoying girl who's gonna talk about everything... I care about it, I love it, I really do," she added.
