tVN offers Filipino-dubbed Korean movies

South Korean channel tvN is now showing Filipino-dubbed Korean movies via their new channel tvN Movies Pinoy. The channel will be available through pay TV provider Cignal TV.

 

The channel promises to air the latest Korean films dubbed in Filipino for those who would rather do without subtitles.

 

Some of the movies included in the lineup are the tearjerker My Puppy (aka My Heart Puppy), starring Cha Tae-hyun and YooYeon-seok, where a man must find a new home for his best bud Rooney when his fiancée proves to be allergic to dogs and the sports movie Countdown, starring Jin Sun-Kyu, where a former Olympic gold medalist retires from boxing to become a high school gym teacher. 


The romantic comedy My Worst Neighbor, starring Lee Ji-hoon and Han Seung-yeon, where two neighbors try to drive each other crazy with their antics and detective thriller The Glorious My Revengestarring Heo Jun-seok and Nam Bo-ra, where a man turns to alcohol after he loses his son in a hit-and-run and then unexpectedly meets his son’s killer are also part of the lineup. 

 

EXOLs are also in for a treat as D.O.’s The Moon is set to premiere on the channel in December, just four months after its theatrical release in Korea and the Philippines. 


The action thriller is about an astronaut who attempts to land on the moon but must face many challenges to do so. 

 

Also up is the comedy Switch, starring Kwon Sang-woo and Lee Min-jung, where a top star, who frequently gets involved in scandals, undergoes a life-changing experience.

 

Aside from tvN Movies Pinoy, tvN also launched tvN Premium (replacing tvN Asia). The channel features Korean dramas like Not Others starring Jeon Hye-jin, Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung, Ahn Jae-wook, and Park Sung-hoon. Based on the webtoon of the same title, the series is about the love-hate relationship between a mother and a daughter.

 

With the launch of tvN’s new channels in the Philippines, Senior Vice President of CJ ENM Hong Kong, Mickey Ong, said they are grateful for the partnership they have forged with Cignal TV. 


"Movies are favorites among Filipinos. We are grateful to partner with Cignal TV to be the first to bring tvN Movies to the Philippines," he said. 


He added: "By dubbing the films in the local language, we appeal to a wider audience. Together with Korean dramas on tvN Premium, this is a surefire entertainment combo for everyone.”

 

Meanwhile, Cignal TV President and CEO Jane J. Basas reaffirmed their commitment to making international entertainment accessible to Filipinos. 


“Consistent with our commitment to give Cignal subscribers the best options to choose from, this partnership allows us to offer them the latest Korean shows, and the best Korean films in Filipino," Jane said. 

 

For Cignal subscribers, tvN Movies Pinoy is available on channel 39, while tvN Premium is on channel 237.tvN Movies Pinoy is also available on Video-on-Demand (VOD) on Cignal TV’s streaming platform, CignalPlay.
