ABS-CBN's "Dear MOR: The Podcast" is one of the most popular podcast shows on Spotify in the Philippines this year, according to the audio streaming platform's yearend tally released early this month.

The podcast, an audio version of a hit afternoon radio program narrating real-life stories of love and heartbreak, also made it to Spotify's "Best Stories Podcasts of 2021" list for its Sep. 15 episode, entitled "Quarantine (The Lemuel Story)".

Moreover, the show was also included in the platform's "Podcast Essentials of 2021" playlist for its Sep. 10 episode titled, "True Love (The Yvet Story)".

"Dear MOR: The Podcast" is the podcast version of MOR 101.9's signature program, hosted by DJ Popoy and the late DJ Jasmin. It was launched in May last year, after the FM radio went off-air following the forced closure of ABS-CBN's free TV and radio broadcast.

However, according to its executive producer Mark Marcos, the idea of turning "Dear MOR" into a podcast had been around even before the infamous network shutdown and the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Knowing na audio ang pinakabenta ng MOR, ito 'yung pinaka-logical route na puwede nating i-take si (Dear MOR) program in the future kasi nga since the world is going digital," Marcos said, as quoted by ABS-CBN News.

"Dear MOR: The Podcast" features new episodes from the "Dear MOR" online show as seen on Facebook and YouTube, as well as old episodes that aired on MOR 101.9. Since early this year, the podcast has consistently ranked in the top 10 of the streaming platform's daily charts, and on some days would even reach no. 1.

"Late 2020 nasa chart na kami pero hindi kami nagcha-chart na parang nasa top 10 kami or nasa top 20. Pagpasok ng 2021, pumasok na kami sa top 10," said Marcos. "Ang biro ko nga sa mga kasama ko is parang 'okay na 'yan, nasa top 10 na tayo' pero dahan-dahan siyang umaangat. Napapansin namin everyday umaangat siya. Very overwhelming siya."

"Dear MOR: The Podcast" has reportedly garnered more than 5.4 million streams, with over 300,000 active listeners from 79 countries, as of November 2021.
