Even before the pandemic, stress and negativity somehow made their way into our lives. And when the lockdown began, our usual ways of relieving the burden on our shoulders—like spending time with and talking with friends and loved ones, traveling, or even working out in our favorite studios were taken away from us, and the anxiety of losing what we once enjoyed added to the seemingly non-ending pile of worries.

However, as we contemplate on our lives while being isolated from the outside world, we manage to find solutions to ease these troubles. And one way that we discovered is through becoming your own best friend, and treating yourself with the kindness that you deserve.

In Atma Prema Wellbeing Group’s initiative dubbed “Raising Frequencies”, each class offers reminders as well as techniques on reshaping the landscape of what it means to truly love oneself. In their most recent discussion this February, the mantra focused on three words, which also carried the title of the session: “I am worthy.” It’s a short but meaningful statement, suggesting something simple but oftentimes forgotten.

Joining their class, which lasts for about an hour, will help you open up and be truthful to yourself. During the “I am worthy” session, APWG founders Dr. Lia Bernardo and Nathan Alba with Self-Love Solution teachers Dianne de Castro and Edwin Cahanding taught techniques to drown out self-sabotage and make peace with one’s inner critic.

The beginning may feel awkward at first, but letting yourself lose and reflecting within as you join in the activities—beginning with the BodyLove movement meditation, followed by the main discussion on the topic, and sharing stories and mantras from fellow participants—will eventually put you at ease. As you open up to self-acceptance and seeing your worth and magnificence, it becomes a powerful tool that recharges yourself to face the next day more confident and more “you”.

If finding your inner support system is looking like a difficult feat, trying out a session of Raising Frequencies may get you started on the right track. Their next session happens on March 1, and a special class in honor of Women’s Month on March 8. See you there! Tickets are available here.
