Passengers should check with local governments if they are allowed to travel before confirming flights, Cebu Pacific said Wednesday, 3 days into a relaxed coronavirus lockdown that allowed the country's largest airline to partially restart operations.

Leisure travel remains prohibited under the general community quarantine, including vacations and visits to relatives in the provinces, said Cebu Pacific spokesperson Charo Logarta-Lagamon.

Local governments have different requirements for travelers. A Cebu Pacific passenger on Tuesday was barred from flying due to lack of medical clearance required by the General Santos City government, she said.

"What we strongly encourage is bago po tayo mag-confirm ng ating mga flights, mag-check po muna tayo sa LGU ng ating pupuntahan at LGU po ng ating panggagalingan na panggagalingan ba natin kung eligible ba tayong mag-travel," Lagamon told DZMM.

"Hindi po responsibility ng airline, kundi responsibilidad po ng pasahero to make sure na siya ay allowed," she added.

Cebu Pacific has restarted trips to and from Manila and Naga, General Santos City and Cagayan de Oro, said Logarta-Lagamon.

The airline needs permission from an inter-agency task force and local governments to reopen more routes.

Cebu Pacific has yet to restart international flights. "Importante po muna domestic [flights] po muna dahil marami pong stranded," she said.
