When it comes to luxury resorts, Amorita Resort is a name that’s long been around. Meaning “little darling,” the property is quite the opposite. Boasting 16 years in the hospitality industry, this Panglao resort has almost a hundred sophisticated rooms and villas (98 to be exact), four superb dining outlets, and two scenic infinity pools. Exhibiting all the earthly treasures of Bohol—shimmering blue waters, pristine white sand, and lush tracts of greenery—Amorita is serenely perched on top of a limestone cliff, and is a convergence of key elements from its surrounding environment to create a unique island ambience with natural and modern interiors and charm.

I recently visited the top-rated resort as one of my closest friends can’t stop raving about the amazing time she experienced at Amorita, and true enough, they absolutely exceeded my expectations.

The destination is a 10-minute drive from Panglao International Airport, a quick trip to access the front beach resort, right at the heart of Alona Beach. We were welcomed with refreshments and a quick run-down of the amenities and activities we can try during our stay. From snorkeling, to kayaking, to archery, the resort offers a lot of fun activities to do. For those interested in jet-skiing, the resort has strong convictions against motorized water activities to minimize fuel-waste impact on the ocean. Nothing to fret though, Amorita still has so much to offer. After all, it was developed to provide guests a “place for infinite experiences.”

First time to try archery at AAmorita and it was surprisingly fun (and tiring!)

The spacious and sparkling clean rooms are sure to wow any guest. With their plastic-free bottles and paper-packaged toiletries, one can tell that the resort brand is serious about going green. They also formulate their own natural shampoos and conditioners, which have been a crowd-pleaser for staying guests.

When it comes to dining, Amorita is all about delighting their guests with gastronomic treats for every meal, while keeping things sustainable. Most of their produce is sourced locally, and the ingredients are always natural and organic (yes, even their seasonings!). As part of their commitment to their cultural heritage, they still use the asin tibuok, a variety of salt native to Bohol. When guests order the Matador (ribeye steak) at The Lost Cow (Amorita’s steakhouse) they are informed of the cultural significance of this salt.

Needless to say, every dish in Amorita is meticulously prepared, seasoned, and cooked to ensure a delicious spread and unforgettable dining every time, but still with recycling and upcycling in mind. All single-use plastic cutleries and straws are replaced with metal ones. Their food waste is used for compost in their in-house herb and vegetable garden, while the used cooking oils are processed and upcycled to create scented soaps, which they donate to local public schools while educating them on the importance of frequent hand-washing.

On top of great food, excellent service, and high-end amenities, Amorita is committed to eco-consciousness not just in operations, but also in their local initiatives. They say you reap what you sow, and reaping they are. The ASEAN Green Hotel Awards is an annual recognition program that acknowledges and celebrates hotels and resorts within the ASEAN region that demonstrate outstanding commitment and achievements in environmental sustainability, and Amorita takes pride as an awardee.

Underwater clean ups can be a tedious activity, but it’s all worth it for Amorita

As a deserving recipient of the world-renowned awards, they are serious when it comes to preserving the beauty of Bohol. One of their activities for eco-preservation and tourism is their underwater and beach clean ups, in partnership with Alona Divers. They do this monthly to do their part in keeping the marine life and biodiversity of Panglao healthy and vibrant, under the leadership of resort General Manager, Leeds Trompeta.

From the seas to the soil, Amorita keeps it going. The resort uses existing trees and indigenous plants as the foundation of landscape planning and design. They also put our planet before profit, as the property only has a density factor of 17%, with the rest as open landscape. Sustainability, after all, is the ability to exist and develop without depleting natural resources for the future.

All the green practices mentioned are under the umbrella of their Project ECHO, short for 'actions and initiatives on Environment, Community, and Heritage by One-Of Collection.' One-of Collection is the boutique hotel group that carries the Amorita resort brand. Project ECHO represents a profound commitment to enriching the hospitality industry by incorporating responsible practices, deeply rooted in environmental stewardship, community engagement, and cultural preservation. It was conceived to underscore the group's pledge to meet the most discerning needs of its guests while simultaneously nurturing and safeguarding the environment and its people.

Amorita Resort, Panglao, Bohol

Amorita Resort continues to combine luxury and sustainability seamlessly, setting an example for eco-conscious travel. Guests not only enjoy a luxurious escape but also contribute to the preservation of Bohol's natural treasures and support local communities. With breathtaking views, eco-friendly practices, and a deep respect for nature, Amorita Resort is a testament to how sustainable living can coexist with indulgent experiences.

Travelers can attest to this, as Amorita is TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice and Hall of Fame awardee, recognized for consistently offering guests world-class service and signature Filipino hospitality. They have been awarded “Best Service” twice in the Condé Nast Johansens Excellence Awards, and are once again shortlisted for the year to come.

Now that deserves a big toast, little darlings!
