ANTIPOLO – Middle blocker Bea de Leon made valuable contributions for Creamline in the quarterfinals, helping the team reach the semifinals anew through her net defense.

De Leon flexed her blocking prowess, pouring in five kill blocks in both matches against Chery Tiggo in the 2024-25 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference best-of-three series.

But Game 2 was hers to shine as she nabbed a total of 14 points including those blocks, making her the Player of the Game on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo.

De Leon said all credit goes to coach Sherwin Meneses' system because it is "effective."

"Meron din naman po talaga kaming training for that [blocking]. Sa sistema lang din po ako naka-base. Effective naman din siya, I really trust coach Sherwin's system," said De Leon.

The former Ateneo Lady Eagle said she's actually not looking for points, asserting that she just wants to focus on the defense.

"Super bonus talaga 'yung pumupuntos siya [blocks]," she added. "But really, what I look for is 'yung tamang tapat, para matulungan 'yung depensa, kung ma-check ball maganda rin," she added.

The winning mindset comes from the culture of the organization itself, De Leon said, as Creamline barged into the semifinal round for the 17th time since joining the league in 2017.

Creamline has always won at least a bronze medal since.

"For me, 'yung culture din po talaga. 'Yung mindset po ng bawat isa from the leaders to everybody on the team. Sa coaches po, talagang there’s always more to learn, and we reallytry to give our best everyday, kahit pagod, kahit mahirap. So ayun, for me the standout is the winning culture."
