MANILA -- #LabanGE came out on top against #LabanSecret.

The new faces of Global Esports broke through the old guard of Team Secret in the second day of the VCT Pacific Kickoff tournament by completing the reverse sweep, 2-1.

The overhauled GE lineup featuring two Filipino players bounced back from a beating by a hot-starting Adobo Gang in Abyss at 13-3 by retaliating in Split and Pearl with 13-7 and 13-6 score lines respectively.

GE's Pinoy controller player, Federico "Papi" Evangelista was crowned overall MVP for the series with 41 kills, 31 deaths, and 18 assists.

A day prior to the match, TS announced that former BOOM Esports head coach Ji "meow" Dong-jun replaces Tim "dummy" Olson as head coach and Jose "Rbtx" Jamir, the former head coach of Oasis Gaming and the bronze-winning Sibol VALORANT team in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games, will be the team's analyst on top of his head coach duties for their Team Secret Academy squad.

In Map 1, Abyss, TS took control of the game and limited GE to only 3 rounds in the first half. The all-Filipino squad kept GE winless in the second half and capped off the map with a flawless round.

Duelist Jeremy "Jremy" Cabrera top-fragged for TS in their map pick with 21 kills, 10 deaths, and 3 assists and an average combat score of 364.

GE opened map 2, Split, by taking the pistol and anti-eco rounds but TS then rebuffed with 4 rounds of their own. In response, GE fought back with 6 rounds of their own to bring the score to 8-4 at the half.

TS traded rounds to keep the map alive in the second half, but the game MVP Go "UdoTan"  Kyung-won kept the Adobo Gang at bay to end the map at 13-7 and even the series.

The decider map Pearl went in the way of GE, taking the first three rounds and taking four straight rounds in between TS round wins thanks to clutch performances from Papi.

Despite the deficit, the Adobo Gang aimed to come back with in-game leader Jessie "JessieVash" Cuyco marking a milestone with 1000 all-time kills in VCT Pacific, the oldest player in the regional league at 34 years old, and ending the first half with an ace.

Despite JessieVash's heroics, it proved futile as GE ended the decider at 13-6 and completed the reverse sweep.

The Indian-based organization moves on to the upper bracket quarterfinals to face off against Talon Esports on January 25, while Team Secret drops to the lower bracket.
