MANILA, Philippines – It is the end of the road for Rain or Shine in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup.

The Elasto Painters succumbed in five games, 1-4, in the best-of-seven semifinals to the Finals-bound TNT Tropang Giga.

They even led by as much as 13 points in Game 5, but Yeng Guiao's wards eventually lost, falling to the rallying Rondae Hollis-Jefferson-led Tropang Giga, 92-97, on Friday at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Rain or Shine was able to reach the semifinals for the third straight time, but somehow joining the Final Four was their ceiling.

Guiao shared his key takeaways following their Game 5 defeat, asserting that they had the chance to win in every game they played in the semis.

"Good conference for us, nakarating kami ng semifinals. 4-1 'yung series pero we felt that every game we played, we had the chance to win," said Guiao. "'Yung five games na 'yon, may pagkakataon na makuha namin 'yung laro—breaks [of the game] lang."

"So siguro matuto lang dapat kami maglaro ng endgame. Again, I don't want to make it an excuse na bata 'yung team namin, 'di na bata 'yung team namin," Guiao added. "Kailangan lang talaga ng a little bit of the mental toughness in trying to close out the games."

"Kanina, lumamang kami pero mga turnovers ang nakasira ng endgame namin."

Moreover, the fiery mentor looked on the positives, saying that he remains "proud of what we have accomplished" as he showered praises for their import, Deon Thompson.

"But still, [I'm] proud of what we have accomplished, 'yung import namin pagdating ng semis, even in the quarters nag-step up siya," Guiao said of Thompson.

Guiao acknowledged the need for the locals to step up especially in supplementing their firepower.

"Tingin ko, nagkulang 'yung locals pagdating sa scoring. Kasi 'yung scoring niya [Deon Thompson] maayos eh," he stated.

"'Yung mga locals namin, inconsistent. Pero again, as you play in the playoffs, quarters or semis, ito 'yung mga napakahalagang mga lessons na will make your team better."
