In 2017, Yulo moved to Tokyo, Japan — coincidentally where he would eventually miss a podium finish at the Olympics — to train, an initiative by GAP and the Japan Gymnastics Association, backed by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) 'Olympic Solidarity' program.
In 2017, Yulo moved to Tokyo, Japan — coincidentally where he would eventually miss a podium finish at the Olympics — to train, an initiative by GAP and the Japan Gymnastics Association, backed by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) 'Olympic Solidarity' program.

Yulo nabbed the gold and silver in FIG World Cup in Doha, Qatar, and went to rake four golds in the Asian Championships in his pre-Olympic journey this year.
