MANILA (UPDATED) — NCAA Season 99 Most Improved Player Jun Roque is set to make a homecoming to Colegio de San Juan de Letran.

This, after the Pampanga native made the decision to transfer and commit to the Letran Knights, sources confirmed to ABS-CBN News.

A product of the institution’s high school program, Roque said he is excited to return to Letran and continue his unfinished business in Intramuros.

“I’m very excited to play for Letran,” he said in a message. “Gustong gusto ko maglaro para sa Knights since graduate din ako doon ng senior high. Hindi lang ako nakapaglaro before sa juniors dahil sa pandemic.”

“Excited din akong matulungan sila makapag-rebuild especially after ng past NCAA season,” he added, pointing out to Letran’s 2-16 record last year just after they completed a rare three-peat in the grand-old league.

The Pampanga native now joins big man Mark Denver Omega and point guard Carlo Ferreras in the list of players who decided to exit the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA and make their return to the Muralla-based team.

Also a member of the Season 99 Mythical Five, Roque posted all-around numbers of 12.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.01 assists, and 1.4 steals in the Altas’ 10-8 campaign, just a win short of booking a spot in the Final Four.

Mapua University’s Ryle Rosillo, De La Salle-College of St. Benilde’s Emman Galman, and former University of Santo Tomas-commit Thomas Reid are the other players who have opted to leave their respective schools to transfer to the Knights and don their blue and red armors.

On the other hand, Chris Hubilla and Drex Delos Reyes, who also previously committed to suit up and transfer to Letran, are now with Mapua.

All are expected to serve a one-year residency right and will be eligible to play starting Season 101.
