MANILA – Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao is the 22nd highest-paid athlete of all time as of 2024, according to sports news company Sportico.

According to data posted by Sportico, Pacquiao earned $750 million since becoming a pro boxer in 1995.

Pacquiao's last professional battle was more than two years ago against Yordenis Ugás, where he suffered a loss in their welterweight showdown at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with scores 115-113, 116-112, and 116-112 in favor of the Cuban.

And it seems that retirement has not suited him as Pacquiao fought in an exhibition match against DK Yoo of South Korea in December 2022.

Pacquiao also announced in January 2024 that he would fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. again later this year, but details have yet to be disclosed.

Meanwhile, he is slated to face Muay Thai and kickboxing icon Buakaw Banchamek on April 20 in Bangkok, Thailand.

The "People's Champ" has also been known to venture into other professions.

To name a few, he was elected senator of the Philippines, previously played in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), founded the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), and had some stints in the show business.

The eight-division world champion was the only Filipino on Sportico's list, headed by six-time NBA champion Michael Jordan, who has earned a total of $3.75 billion.

LeBron James is also in the mix at fifth place after amassing $1.7 billion.

Rounding out the top five were golf legend Tiger Woods ($2.66 billion), Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo ($1.92 billion), and another golfer Arnold Palmer ($1.76 billion)

In boxing, it was Floyd Mayweather, also dubbed as Money, who led in said profession with a whopping $1.48 billion worth of earnings and cracked the top 10.
