Filipino-American Zachary "zekken" Patrone led Sentinels to its second Valorant Champions Tour: Masters title, as the squad downed South Korea's Gen.G in Madrid, Spain, Sunday (Monday past midnight in the Philippines).

According to vlr.gg, Zekken snagged 100 kills and 29 assists, contributing to an average combat score of 263. Behind him is Tyson "TenZ" Ngo with an ACS of 221 and 83 kills, on top of 54 assists.

The series between Americas' and the Pacific's top dog teams went back and forth, and Gen.G managed to snag match point after taking Ascent at 13-8.

Sentinels forced a rubber match at Split (13-10) before closing things out on Icebox (13-6).

Sentinels capped off the series at round 19 in Icebox, picking off Kim "t3xture" Na-ra (Jett) and Kim "Lakia" Jong-min (Gekko) early into the round at the B site before rotating to a nearly empty A site.

Gen.G forced a 3v2 situation but Zekken (Jett) Bladestormed Kim "Meteor" Tae-o (Killjoy) to leave rookie Kim "Karon" Won-tae (Viper) defending for his life. Karon picked off  Gustavo Henrique "Sacy" Rossi da Silva  (Gekko) but Mohamed Amine "JohnQT" Ouarid (Viper) traded off almost immediately for the championship title.

Sentinels made huge adjustments ahead of this year's circuit, with its star Tyson "TenZ" Ngo and Zekken swapping roles, as the Valorant legend adapted to a more supporting role.

"Entrying was a pretty tough at first, and it was a big learning curve getting like rocked in a bunch of games. But I got insane teammates that supported me in the entire wave. Like the best utility possible. The transition was hard at first but now it's great," Zekken, now the team's mainstay duelist, shared in a post-match press conference.

Zekken was born to a Filipino mother.

Sentinels will take home $250,000 and 3 circuit points, giving them a lofty advantage in qualifying for Valorant's crowning event, VCT Champions, to be held in Seoul this year.
