JAKARTA, Indonesia — The only remaining Filipino player in the 2024 Honor of Kings (HoK) Championship has advanced to the grand finals after clinching a win in the lower bracket finals Saturday.

Adrian "Toshi" Bacallo and his Indonesia-based team Dominator Esports denied Malaysia powerhouse Team Secret a bid on the reverse sweep, reclaiming the momentum they had in the first two games of the series.

Earlier in the day, Dominator Esports was at the upper bracket finals facing Black Shrew Esport but fell short 1-3 against the Malaysian team, dropping to the lower bracket final for another chance at the grand finals.

Meanwhile, Team Secret faced fellow Malaysia team Nova Esports in the lower bracket semifinal, enduring a five-game clincher before moving on to face Dominator Esports.

Albeit visibly fatigued from the numerous games they played in a single day, both Dominator Esports and Team Secret performed a "grand-finals worthy" best-of-5 matchup for the lower bracket finals.

In the fifth game, it was a full-on back and forth between the two teams, but when everything seemed to turn into Team Secret's favor after a successful clash, Dominator Esports managed to bag the game as their minions came in clutch and backdoored Team Secret's base.

During the post-game interview, Team Secret's coach said they lost the deciding game because they were "rushing" to secure the win.

"I think we have to agree that we were rushing for that victory. That everything was on our side and then there were one or two opportunities for us to close the game but we were a little bit rushed in that sense... It was really our mistake in rushing," Team Secret Coach Zhao Kai said.

Dominator Esports is now slated to face a revenge match against Black Shrew Esport on Sunday (October 27) in a best-of-7 series to win the $300,000 USD grand prize.
