MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) on Monday unveiled its official app ahead of the opening of its 42nd season.

The app, developed by Appefize, will give PBA fans quick access to results of games, league news, statistics, standings, and player profiles.

"Kailangan, 'yun tentacles natin as PBA, habaan natin, hatakin natin 'yung mga 'yun, and I think the platform for that is the PBA app," said PBA chairman Mikee Romero during Monday's press conference at the Makati Shangri-la.

Romero is expecting that the app will help grow the PBA audience even more, and the app's developers have promised that they will continue to upgrade and improve it.

"We tried to create a destination app, where PBA fans would wake up in the morning, launch the app to get the news to see the results, the schedules, all the promos and events," said Fred Fateh of Appefize.

"Even the social networks, we have brought those into the app so fans don't have to leave the PBA app in order to follow Facebook, Instagram or Twitter," he added.

Fateh said the app will have "more exciting features in the near future," including a live-stream function as well as customization, so that fans will have the option of tailoring the notifications that they will receive.
