Philippine club Rebisco dropped its second game at the 2021 Asian Women’s Club Championship after losing to Thailand’s Supreme Chonburi, 11-25, 16-25, 16-25, in Nakhon Ratchasima on Saturday.

Despite parading a complete lineup, Rebisco fell to Supreme’s quick plays, suffering back-to-back defeats in straight sets.

After a disappointing two sets, Philippines looked good at the start of the third with Faith Nisperos uncorking a couple of hits followed by an off-speed shot of Dindin Santiago-Manabat for a 5-1 lead, forcing Thailand to call for time.

Led by veteran Pleumjit Thinkaow, Supreme rallied and to go up at the first technical timeout, 8-7.

The Thai club stretched its lead to 12-8 after Pleumjit’s trademark running attack. Not to be outdone, Majoy Baron cut Rebisco’s deficit with a quick hit and kept their opponent at bay, 16-13.

Wing spiker Wipawee Srithong joined Pleumjit in an offensive onslaught in the ensuing plays and widened the gap to 22-13.

Supreme Chonburi capped the match via 3 errors by the Philippines.

Rebisco hopes to bounce back against Saipa Tehran in their last game in the preliminaries on October 3.
