MANILA, Philippines – Ateneo de Manila University's Marck Espejo joined an exclusive club when he was named the Most Valuable Player of the UAAP Season 80 men's volleyball tournament on Monday.

This is the fifth season in a row that Espejo has won the top individual honor in UAAP men's volleyball. He was named Rookie of the Year in Season 76.

Espejo also earned Best Scorer honors for the second straight year after totaling a whopping 317 points for the Blue Eagles, who are eyeing a fourth consecutive men's volleyball championship.

He also won the Best Spiker award for the fourth year in a row after converting 50.09% of his spikes this year.

Espejo also won Best Server honors for the second time in his career, thanks to an average of 0.44 ace per set. He last won the award in Season 78.

Espejo is one of the very few athletes who have won the MVP plum in each of his playing years, a select group that includes former University of the Philippines swimmer Luica Dacanay and De La Salle University chess player John Paul Gomez.

Meanwhile, Jayvee Sumagaysay of University of Santo Tomas is this season's Best Blocker, having averaged 0.78 block per set. He just edged out Far Eastern University's (FEU) JP Bugaoan, who was a close second with a 0.75 block per set average.

FEU's Rikko Marmeto graduated as the Best Receiver in the league, with an efficiency of 68.80%. Meanwhile, La Salle's Jopet Movido earned Best Digger honors with an average of 4.27 digs per set.

Ateneo playmaker Ish Polvorosa is the Best Setter for the fifth consecutive year, as he normed a whopping 10.74 excellent sets per set. La Salle's Wayne Marco was a far second at 8.96 excellent sets per set.

Much like Espejo, Polvorosa had a stranglehold on the Best Setter award as he won the plum in all of his five seasons with the Blue Eagles.

Ateneo's Ariel Morado Jr. won Rookie of the Year honors.

The awarding ceremony will be held ahead of Game 2 of the men's volleyball finals on Wednesday at the Araneta Coliseum.
