MANILA, Philippines – University of Perpetual Help secured a fourth consecutive championship in the NCAA after blasting Colegio de San Juan de Letran, 25-17, 25-17, 25-17, in Game 2 of the Season 93 juniors volleyball finals at the FilOil Flying V Centre on Thursday.

Ivan Encila and Noel Michael Kampton led the attack by firing 16 and 15 points, respectively, while Jody Margaux Severo did most the dirty job with nine digs and 15 receptions to help the Junior Altas sweep the Squires in two games.

It was Perpetual Help's fourth straight title and 11th overall, making them the second most successful high school program in the NCAA. Letran still leads the way with 14 boys' titles.

"We’re so happy that all the hard work, sacrifices we’ve done have finally bore fruit," said Perpetual Help coach Sandy Rieta.

The Junior Altas claimed a tough 25-16, 25-15, 20-25, 25-20 win in Game 1, but they were unstoppable in Game 2 as they dominated the Squires from start to finish.

Severo earned Finals MVP honors after he contributed nine points to go with his impressive floor defense.

It was a fitting finish for Severo, who will graduate along with eight other players.

“I will lose nine players including him (Severo) next year so it will really be tough for us,” said Rieta.

Rieta, however, could console himself with the fact that he will retain Kirth Patrick Rosos, the reigning season MVP, and the power-hitting Kampton, who averaged an impressive 18.5 points in the series.

“That’s my next goal, to find and train players the whole of this year to fill the spots left by my graduating players,” he said.
