Arlene Damot's story proves there is always time to do something outside your comfort zone. At 35, she's a happy wife, a hands-on mom, and a successful entrepreneur behind Royal Aesthetics Clinic.

As well-traveled as she is, she still wanted to venture into uncharted territories, so she joined a beauty pageant for the first time. Her platform of choice was Mrs. Universe Philippines, and it couldn't have been more perfect to celebrate who she is and what she stands for today. Representing Parañaque City, she was named Mrs. Universe Philippines last June 18 at Rizal Park Hotel in Manila.

Mrs. Universe began in Bulgaria and is now on its 46th edition. The pageant recognizes 'the most honorable married woman.' Any woman with a family and a significant cause to champion is welcome to join, whether she's married, divorced, or widowed.

The latest edition is taking place from October 1 to 9 at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City, where over 100 women from around the world are gathered to compete for the coveted title. The Grand Coronation Night is set to happen on October 8.

For Arlyn, she's aiming for the Mrs. Universe title and crown because her values are aligned with the organization. There's a bit of pressure that comes from representing the Philippines and possibly giving the country its first Mrs. Universe victory. 'I'm no Pia [Wurtzbach] naman. I'm no Catriona [Gray]. But I am Arlyn, so I will do my best, and I believe that I am unique,' she told the members of the press during her media conference last September 21, adding that she believes in this platform she's now happily part of. 'If I were given the chance to, for example, mamili ng any pageantry, I'd still choose Mrs. Universe. I love being a mom e.'

Arlyn has been married for 10 years, and she has two sons ages 13 and 8. A pageant like this, Arlyn says, is also a huge confidence booster for mothers like her. As the famous saying goes, 'You have to take of yourself before you can take care of others.' And for Arlyn, it is of utmost importance that she not only looks good but also feels good about herself and the purpose she's serving. 'Even though we're a mom already and we have kids, we can still showcase our beauty and talents,' she said.

Her advocacy as a beauty queen is to inspire others to overcome bullying. 'When I was young, I was really bullied because of my weight. I was chubby back then. And also my skin tone,' she opened up. 'So, I just want to show everyone that if you set your mind and heart to it, you can be anything you want to be.' Apart from this, she's also all about women empowerment and supports the organization's advocacy to bring awareness to violence against women.

Arlyn made sure to be pageant-ready by sticking to a workout routine. She also loves going to the spa because it helps her prepare for the pageant mentally and emotionally. She also went through pasarela training with international pageant and runway coach Ian Mendajar.

'For the gowns, we have collaborated with a lot of designers… some of them Mark Bumgarner, Ehrran Montoya, Mara Chua, and a lot more,' Arlyn said. She also hinted that her national costume would be something that's 'mabango.'

Mrs. Universe Philippines 2023 Arlyn Damot is performing great at the competition and was even named one of the best dressed in her custom Ehrran Montoya gown at the pageant's Queen's Ball.
