The Star Magical Prom 2024 was held in the ballroom of The Bellevue Manila, dressed up by event stylist Dave Sandoval.

A fairytale-like night unfolded last March 14 at The Bellevue Manila in Alabang, where the up-and-coming and most sought-after young artists gathered for the Star Magical Prom 2024.

Now a tradition for ABS-CBN's talent management, the Star Magical Prom goes beyond the glitz, glam, and grandeur, as it also serves as a venue for welcoming new artists into the Star Magic family.

Taking cues from the familiar elements of the prom but elevating it, the event had the young stars walk the ivory carpet, modeling their fairytale-inspired ensembles, before stepping into the grand ballroom. Event stylist Dave Sandoval dressed up the venue.

Star Magic head Laurenti Dyogi was surprised with a birthday segment (his birthday was last March 9) before the program kicked off with his opening remarks.

Direk Lauren began his speech by acknowledging one of Star Magic’s senior managers and its marketing head, Alan Real, who dreamt of mounting a fairytale-themed event. With the realization of this dream through the Star Magical Prom, Direk Lauren quoted Disney Princess Aurora of Sleeping Beauty, addressing Alan by saying, “If you dream a thing more than once, it’s sure to come true. So, sa dalas mong pinangarap to have a fairytale-themed event, finally, we have it. Thank you for sharing this dream of yours, Alan, with us.”

Direk Lauren’s opening remarks were filled with quotes from fairytale movies that even the older ones and those outside of showbiz can be inspired by. Ultimately, though the roads to that “happy ever after” may have many obstacles, but the lessons one can pick up throughout the journey makes the trip worthwhile. He defined “happy ever after” as a “time when you have truly found your strength and the courage to be heroes in your own real fairytales.”

Direk Lauren also encouraged and boosted the confidence of the artists present during the event through pieces of advice, saying, “All artists invited tonight, you are all diamonds in the rough with courageous and adventurous spirits and with pure, innocent hearts… Just continue to espouse the values of humility and honesty in believing in magic and miracles and of being kind people.”

1. “All fairytales begin with ‘once upon a time,’ so tonight, our dear Star Magic artists, especially the very young ones, the Freshies, the young at heart, and the first-timers… sometime in the future, this night will be part of your core memory, your ‘once upon a time.’ You will remember this not just a night of being princes and princesses, kings and queens, but a night where you affirm your dream.”

2. Quoting Christopher Robin during his conversation with Winnie the Pooh, Direk Lauren said, “Remember, young artists, you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

3. “‘Have the courage to be kind because where there is kindness, there is goodness, and when there is goodness, there is magic,’” he also said, as inspired by a quote from Cinderella. “And in all these adventures, challenges, battles with evil villains including your own personal demons, your best weapon will be fortitude and perseverance.”

4. Echoing what Tiana from The Princess and the Frog famously said, he shared, “‘The only way to get what you want in this world is through hard work,’ remember that. So, continue to dream. Big and magical. But journey with courage and a kind heart and couple it with hard work, and this will definitely lead you to a yellow brick road and have a happy ever after.”
