The film marks the return of Kathryn Bernardo on the big screen after the massive critical and commercial success of the 2019 Star Cinema film Hello, Love, Goodbye. Kathryn, who has always been able to maintain a wholesome “girl-next-door” image, ironically sheds the “good girl” image in this very film. Asked by Metro.Style what being a “good girl” means these days for her, the young actress gets pensive.

“Being a good girl for me is such a complex word to explain because we all have our own definition of being a good girl or a good person in general. You know, you can be a good person by being honest, kind, doing what’s right and helping people… iyan! Ang hirap niyang i-explain. But for me, personally, being a good girl is accepting your imperfections, accepting all the flaws, the messes, the 'chaos-ness' na parte ng sarili mo and through all that, at the end of the day, you still want to be a better person. As long as you try to be a better person then you’re good,” Kathryn says.

“Hindi porke’t artista, perfect na. Hindi porke’t sinabi na role model, wala kaming imperfections and we can’t commit mistakes and we can’t learn from our mistakes. So that’s what I’ve been telling [people], yes, p’wedeng i-idolize ka. Parang ako, may iniidolo ako and all. But then, bakit ko siya iniidolo? Because I see myself in her, because nakikita ko na tao rin sya na nasasaktan siya, nagkakamali siya, napapagod siya, nagagalit siya, and that’s okay. So siguro walang masyadong pressure sa akin kasi even the fans, I always tell them na huwag niyo akong i-idolize dahil ‘perfect’ ako dahil hindi talaga.

Sa role na ito ni Philo na rebellious and very bold character, bago siya sa akin but in a way siguro, iyan iyong reason why I have a small circle of friends and my family. Because at the end of the day, pinapa-enjoy nila sa akin iyong life in general. Yes, I work hard but I need to enjoy my life too. So pinapayagan nila akong umalis, magtrabaho nang magtrabaho but then ito ang gagawin ko after ha? Para may mabigay pa ako at hindi ako maubos. So iyon iyong naging routine ko parati para ayoko na napre-pressure ako to be good just because I have to be good,” she shares.

Metro.Style asked the actress what the most unexpected and surprising moments she had on the set, and this is what she had to say: “I think it was really mostly being able to work with Petersen as a director. The way he’s very collaborative and always welcoming new ideas and always talking to each other. Kasi bihira iyong p’wede mo talagang kausapin iyong director in that level na para kayong partners talaga na creating something together as a team. That’s what made it special. And then working with Kath nga as I’ve said earlier because she’s a very generous actor. We have a bunch of other people in the cast na wala sila dito but they are all my friends from the other world that I’ve come from which is theater. That was such a fun day. Malalaman niyo kung bakit kapag pinanood niyo ang pelikula. It was really mostly all about work,” Dolly begins.

“By the way, first Star Cinema [movie] ko ito ha? Iyon din. That’s what made it special talaga. I’m working with Star Cinema for the first time where they really took good care of all of us. They were so loving and so caring of all our needs and very open also to suggestions and our input. Iyong hindi lang nila kami ini-spoonfeed na ‘ito iyong gagawin ninyo, kami ang masusunod, kami ang boss, bahala kayo,’ and it wasn’t like that at all. That’s why I can call this film a work of art eh kasi hindi lang siya devised by a big machine. It’s really the work of hundreds of people working together to create a very good film,” she concludes.
